LABORATORIES & WORKSHOPS
1) CLIMATOLOGY/ ENVIRONMENT LAB
Climatology is an important part of the curriculum of B.Arch. programme. In order to teach climatology more effectively climatology lab with modern instruments has been set up at SDCA. This lab helps students to get exposure of the climatology study which they learn as theory subject in third semester. Our lab has instruments to measure temperature, humidity, wind speed, and lighting etc.
2) SURVEYING LAB
Surveying is an important part of the curriculum of B.Arch. programme. Surveying lab have various instruments for distance measurements and for measuring heights of the buildings & objects. The lab is equipped with the instruments and tools that students use throughout the surveying courses.
3) MATERIALS TESTING LAB
We have a common lab for material testing with civil department. In intent of the lab is to impart practical learning to the students with the behaviour of structural materials like Bricks, concrete, Timber , steel etc. , under different loading conditions as well as to test the quality and properties of the building unit.
4) ELECTRICAL/LIGHTING LAB
The electrical lab displays various lighting fixtures, switches, MCBs, ELCBs, Isolators of different amperage etc. the lab also details out basic electrical circuit for simple residence.
5) PLUMBING & SANITATION
The plumbing & sanitation lab displays various plumbing fixtures, traps, pipes etc. the lab also details out basic plumbing & sanitation layout for simple residence.
6) COMPUTER LAB
At SDCA we have fully air-conditioned computer lab with more than 50 computers that are configured to latest operating system with latest version architecture software installed –AUTOCAD, REVIT, 3D MAX and other software used in architecture.
7) MATERIAL MUSEUM
The Material Museum at SDCA has a vast display of various modern building materials. This serves as an information centre for the students to decide on their choice of materials during their architectural design studio project.
8) MODEL MAKING WORKSHOP
The workshop has various material cutting equipment’s and model making tools, where students learn and explore model making technique with different materials and make models for their architectural design studio projects.
9)CARPENTORY WORKSHOP
We have a centralized workshop for carpentry with other department. At carpentry workshop students learn the fundamentals of wood working and carpentry tools, wood working equipment’s, various carpentry operations and the method of making wooden joints.
10) CONSTRUCTION YARD
Construction yard is an open space available for the students to perform hands on exercises of using various building materials like clay, bricks, stone etc. to constructs building elements and gain practical experiences using different construction techniques.
