About the Department

A Civil Engineering discipline that deals with the analysis, design, construction & maintenance of infrastructural facilities such as building, bridge, dams & roads etc. Civil Engineering is a composite of many specific disciplines that includes structural engineering, water engineering, waste material management & foundation engineering etc. The department is organized in tune with these latest developments in terms of curriculum, well-qualified faculty members and the state of-the-art labs for B.Tech course in Civil Engineering.. The goal of the department is to produce high quality technical manpower needed by industry, R&D organizations and academic institutions and above all to meet the engineering needs of the nation. The academic activities of the Department emphasize deep understanding of fundamental principles, development of creative ability to handle the challenges of Civil Engineering and the analytical ability to solve problems which are interdisciplinary in nature. The Department also encourages its students to engage in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, essential for development and nurturing of team spirit, developing organizational skills and inculcating good moral values and positive work culture.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To prepare students with excellent comprehension of basic sciences and engineering subjects facilitating them to gain employment or pursue postgraduate studies with an appreciation for lifelong learning.
  2. To train students with problem solving capabilities such as analysis and design with adequate practical skills wherein they demonstrate creativity and innovation that would enable them to develop state of the art equipment and technologies of construction and societal development.
  3. To inculcate positive attitude, professional ethics, effective communication and interpersonal skills which would facilitate them to succeed in the chosen profession exhibiting creativity and innovation through research and development both as team member and as well as leader.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

  1. An ability to apply knowledge of Mathematics, Science, and Engineering to solve complex engineering problems of Civil Engineering construction as well as analyze and interpret data and prepare a report with conclusions.
  2. An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams involving interpersonal skills.
  3. An ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems of multidisciplinary nature.
  4. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities involved in the practice of Civil Engineering profession.
